Seafarers who have special duties and responsibilities in relation to the cargo and associated oil, gas and chemical tanker equipment must have a certificate of proficiency. Which certificate of proficiency is required depends on the function and the type of tanker. You can find more information about this in Article 35 of the Seafarers Decree.
An application for a certificate of proficiency for service on tankers can only be submitted via the Kiwa Register application portal. In the portal, you can also view the status of your request:

Within 7 to 9 working days after your application is complete and paid, your tanker certificate of proficiency will be sent.
A tanker certificate of proficiency is valid for 5 years.
The rate for the tanker certificate of proficiency is legally determined by the Dutch government in the Regeling tarieven transportsectoren (Dutch) and includes 21% VAT. An certificate of proficiency for service on tankers costs €171,82.
You can pay directly online via iDEAL and credit card (MasterCard or VISA). You can also pay via bank transfer afterwards, after receiving your invoice. An application will always only be processed when it is complete and paid.
